Hello People,
This is my first blog,(sounds familiar?).. and naturally, I feel worried about ...all those followers who will now be bombarded with MY 'way of seeing things'. ! But don't worry, the word will travel and the intelligent world will come around eventually!!
Yesterday and today are important days for me; of my launching into the wild world of social media, much encouraged by my tech-savvy cyber space resident son Kedar, who thinks that his father has a lot to tell, which other people may find interesting and( and I hope, educating and entertaining, ..may be)...I don't wish to disappoint him., or his very bemused mother, ...so please read on.!!
By the way, this is a very important day in the history, a day of liberation.
Today, about 108 years ago, the famous Wright Brothers successfully demonstrated that a controlled and accelerating flight is possible. " Flying" and controlling per say, and crashing(!)was already being tried by many, including the US Govt!!), but the "Control" was still elusive, and acceleration, more so. Wrights were the first to do both well, while avoiding the last, thereby and 'liberate' forever the world from its earthly bondage!
Closer home, it was only yesterday, also a day of Liberation, when the Bangladesh Liberation war was concluded decisively 40 years ago in Dacca., I can also claim to be a part of that, however small, but,
yes," I was there!" Flying the legendary Dakotas in Assam and around( the then) East Pakistan, supplying materials, ammunition or para-dropping troops may not look like very exciting war-like activity, but, for us young Air Force pilots, flying itself was an unending adventure trip! Formation flying and (officially allowed) low flying added that extra adrenaline.
India accepted the surrender of East Pakistani Army to formally end the war .In this lightening campaign, hundreds of our Indian Soldiers and scores of young officers, leading from front, laid down their lives.. for another country! We Indians, should feel proud and grateful to them for their courage and sacrifice.

Interestingly, the final blow to push the East Pakistani military into submission, was delivered by the Indian Air Force ( thank you Wright Brothers!),in concluding part of "Op Cactus Lily", in strafing the Dacca Govt house forcing the governor to resign and dropping paratroopers across river Padma, in Bangladesh for their final march towards Dacca. The rest, as they say, is history....and India's " Vijay Diwas".
Have a nice week-end...and don't pick holes, enjoy the very moment that we live on!
